Breast Augmentation and Enlargement London
What is a Breast Enlargement?
Breast enlargement, also known as breast augmentation or a ‘boob job’, is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the size and shape of the breasts. This may be to address naturally smaller breasts, correct asymmetry, or restore volume lost due to weight changes or pregnancy. It’s one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the UK, and surgeon Mr. Naveen Cavale specialises in a range of breast augmentation procedures, including breast enlargement, lifts and reductions to help women improve their body proportions and feel more confident in their appearance.
During the procedure, Mr. Cavale makes a small incision, approximately 4cm wide, under the breast and uses his ‘signature’ submusclular split (SMS) technique, inserting a high-quality silicone or saline implant. Real Plastic Surgery also offers a fat transfer technique, which can be used to adjust the size, shape, and fullness of the breast for a more natural result.
At
Real Plastic Surgery, all breast augmentation patients will be under the care of our founder,
Mr Naveen Cavale, a consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon who is internationally recognised for his expertise in reconstructive surgery. Learn more about his medical background and expertise

Why Consider a Breast Enlargement in London?
Breast enlargement is the most common cosmetic surgery in the UK, with many patients seeking surgery for a variety of reasons. If you feel self-conscious about the size, symmetry, or position of your breasts, breast enlargement may be worth considering. Breast augmentation is a personal decision that should be made after careful thought and consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon.
It’s important to understand the process and potential risks of the procedure and have realistic expectations about the results. At Real Plastic Surgery, we will assess your individual needs, discuss the best options based on your breast size, shape, and medical history, and help you decide if breast enlargement is the right choice for you.
Types of Breast Augmentation
At Real Plastic Surgery, we offer two main approaches to breast augmentation in London:
- Implant Augmentation London: This involves placing high-quality silicone or saline implants either behind the breast tissue, in front of the chest muscle, behind the muscle, or using a split muscle technique that combines both approaches. Mr Naveen Cavale uses his ‘signature’ submuscular split (SMS) technique that uses round implants placed half under and half over the muscle for natural-looking and long-lasting results.
- Fat Transfer Augmentation London: This technique is particularly effective when combined with implants and uses liposuction to collect fat from areas such as the thighs or buttocks. The fat is then carefully grafted into the breasts to enhance volume and shape. This method, also known as natural breast augmentation, creates a softer, more natural look and feel.

Breast implant surgery can take around 1 hour. We use a general anaesthetic and you can go home on the same day. We do not use drains.
You may need to take 10 to 14 days off work, and wear a support bra and breast band for 6 weeks, 24/7. You can shower the day after surgery.
Breast implants can last as long as 15 years. Your surgeon will advise reviewing the procedure around this time when you can decide if a replacement procedure is required.
To enhance the ize of the breasts. To improve the appearance of asymmetric breasts, tubular breasts or sagging breasts. This might need to be combined with a breast lift or even a breast reduction procedue depending on how much the breast tissue has descended.
Sports and exercise may need to be avoided for approx. 4 to 6 weeks.

The Patient Journey: Breast Augmentation London
The initial consultation lasts about 60 minutes, usually face-to-face with Mr. Cavale at the REAL Clinic in Battersea. Virtual consultations are also available, but a final in-person meeting is required before finalising the plan. The specific size and shape of the implants will be discussed during consultation, including the use of a different size in each breast to correct for differences in size between the left and right.
If you're unsure, you’re welcome to book additional consultations to ensure you’re confident in your decision. It’s imperative that patients feel comfortable and confident in their decisions, so Mr. Cavale encourages all of his patients to speak to their consultant and close support network before making their final decision.
After surgery, you’ll need someone to collect you from the clinic and stay with you overnight. If you live more than an hour from Battersea, we recommend staying in a local hotel for a night with someone in case of emergencies and travelling home the next day. If coming from abroad, plan for two to four weeks in the UK, depending on procedures and your case.
Aftercare includes virtual nursing contact via WhatsApp or phone and a follow-up visit a week later to change dressings and ensure your incisions are healing well. At the first appointment after your breast augmentation, we’ll decide if the dressings and stitches can be removed unless dissolvable stitches have been used. At six weeks, all patients return for a check-up. Your wounds should have healed significantly, and you can hopefully resume many of your usual activities. We may also want to see you three months post-surgery to assess the results, as the final outcome will now start to appear. For around six weeks, you will be required to wear a breast band and a supportive sports bra or surgical bra to help with healing and to support the breasts as they heal.
If you have concerns, please contact our specialist nursing team or Mr. Cavale at any time.

What to Expect on the Day:
Surgery is done in a few hours, and you’ll be home the same day. It is performed with you fully asleep, under TIVA general anaesthesia.
During the breast augmentation procedure, a small incision is made under the breast, around 4cm long. The implants are then inserted either behind the chest muscle, in front of the muscle (and just in front of the breast gland) or between the chest muscle and breast tissue. Once the wounds have been closed, a dressing will be applied. The paper tape dressings used at the clinic can get wet in a shower, and they will still stay in place nicely for around one week. You can shower the day after surgery, but do not soak in a bath for two weeks or so. Make sure to dry them with clean tissue or use a hairdryer on the cold setting before putting your bra and breastband back on again.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Is implant placement better above or below the muscle?
In most cases, placing breast implants underneath the muscle, known as submuscular placement, is preferred as it creates a more natural look and feel by concealing the implant edges under the chest muscle. This option is ideal for those with less natural breast tissue. However, implant placement depends on factors like breast tissue volume and desired results, so a consultation with a plastic surgeon is essential.
-
How long is recovery after breast augmentation?
Recovery after breast augmentation varies from person to person, but generally, you can expect to take up to two weeks off work for initial healing, with pain and discomfort most noticeable during this period. More physical exercise can usually resume after 4-6 weeks, however, you may not see full results until the six-month mark due to swelling, and sometimes a full recovery can take up to 12 months depending on the individual.
-
How long do breast implants last?
Breast implants typically last around 10 to 15 years, which is why our surgeons recommend considering removal or replacement within this timeframe. That said, modern implants are more durable and often last longer than 10 years. The need for replacement depends on the individual and the type of implant, however, many patients experience no issues with their implants as they age and keep them for years without complications.
