Corrective Breast Revision Surgery London
What is Corrective Breast Surgery?
Revision breast surgery can be chosen for a variety of reasons. In some cases, a patient has previously had a breast surgery, for example, a breast augmentation, and the surgery has not gone to plan. In others, a repeat procedure to replace implants or correct capsular contractur has changed the look of the breasts and so corrective breast revision is required. Corrective breast surgery, often called corrective breast revision, is about improving the outcome of previous breast procedures.
Our goal is to refine, or revise your breasts to achieve a more desirable appearance, symmetry, and comfort.
In London, leading plastic surgeons offer advanced techniques to correct previous breast surgery, providing solutions tailored to your unique needs.

Why Consider Corrective Breast Revision in London?
Corrective Breast Revision addresses several issues that may occur following a breast surgery:
- Many patients seek corrective breast revision due to complications or dissatisfaction with breast implants. This can include capsular contracture or rippling, where scar tissue hardens around the implant, causing pain, distortion, or visible folds in the implant. Implant rupture or leakage can also require corrective breast revision, and involves removing or replacing the implants.
- Corrective breast surgery also addresses general aesthetic concerns that can arise following initial procedures. This includes asymmetry, unsatisfactory shape or size, scar revision, or bottoming out, where corrective breast surgery may be required when mplants sit too low.
Ultimately, corrective breast surgery aims to rectify past surgical outcomes, restoring your confidence and achieving your aesthetic goals. When considering corrective breast revision London, it’s crucial to consult with a highly experienced plastic surgeon specialising in these complex procedures.
Treatment Time
Corrective breast revision in London usually takes two to four hours under general anaesthetic, depending on the complexity.
Downtime
Expect 10–14 days off work, longer if your job is physically demanding.
Reasonable Mobility
You’ll be walking the same day, but arm and chest movements should be limited for the first week.
Sport & Exercise
Light walking is encouraged early, but strenuous activity and lifting should wait six weeks.
Driving
Most patients can resume driving two weeks after surgery, provided they feel comfortable.
Shower
You can usually shower after two days, avoiding pressure or heat on the chest area.
Full Recovery
Between six months to a full year. While most swelling subsides within the first few months, subtle changes and final results may continue to develop over time.
Maintenance
Results are long-lasting, but further surgery may be needed in the future if implants or breast tissue change.

The Patient Journey for Corrective Breast Surgery
The initial consultation lasts about 60 minutes, usually face-to-face with Mr Cavale at the REAL Clinic in Battersea. Virtual consultations are also available, but a final in-person meeting is required before finalising the plan. The specific approach to the corrective breast revision procedure will be discussed during the consultation, and if you’re unsure, you’re welcome to book additional consultations to ensure you’re confident in your decision. It’s imperative that patients feel comfortable and confident in their decisions, so Mr Cavale encourages all of his patients to speak to their consultant and close support network before making their final decision.
After surgery, you’ll need someone to collect you from the clinic and stay with you overnight. If you live more than an hour from Battersea, we recommend staying in a local hotel for a night with someone in case of emergencies and travelling home the next day. If coming from abroad, plan for two to four weeks in the UK, depending on procedures and your case. Aftercare includes virtual nursing contact via WhatsApp or phone and a follow-up visit a week later to change dressings and ensure your incisions are healing well. At the first appointment after your corrective breast revision in London, we’ll decide if the dressings and stitches can be removed unless dissolvable stitches have been used. At six weeks, all patients return for a check-up. Your wounds should have healed significantly, and you can hopefully resume many of your usual activities. We may also want to see you three months post-surgery to assess the results, as the final outcome will now start to appear. For around six weeks, you will be required to wear a breast band and a supportive sports bra or surgical bra to help with healing and to support the breasts as they heal. If you have concerns, please contact our specialist nursing team or Mr Cavale at any time.
What to Expect on the Day of Corrective Breast Surgery
The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia, ensuring you are comfortable and pain-free throughout. The duration of the surgery will vary significantly depending on the complexity of the revision required. Procedures can range from a relatively straightforward implant exchange to more intricate operations involving capsular contracture release, tissue repositioning, or complex reconstruction. The aim is to deliver a result that addresses your concerns and enhances the overall appearance and symmetry of your breasts, in alignment with your expectations. The exact approach that Real Plastic Surgery uses to perform revision breast surgery will depend on the reasons why the procedure is needed. The details of the surgery will be discussed in a private consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will there be any scarring?
An incision in the skin will always cause a degree of scarring. Our approach always prioritises minimal scarring, which is why we try and place the incisions where they were made previously. This means that we keep discrete scarring, which will fade over time.
What is the difference between primary and corrective breast surgery?
Primary breast surgery is the initial procedure (e.g., augmentation, reduction, lift). Corrective breast surgery, or corrective breast revision, addresses issues or unsatisfactory outcomes from a previous surgery, aiming to improve aesthetics, resolve complications, or restore comfort.
How do I know if I need corrective breast revision?
Consider corrective breast revision if you experience physical discomfort (pain, asymmetry), aesthetic dissatisfaction (unnatural shape, rippling, implant malposition), or complications (capsular contracture, implant rupture). Consult a specialist if you are unhappy with previous breast procedure results.
Can all issues from previous breast surgery be corrected?
Many issues can be significantly improved or fully corrected, depending on the problem, tissue condition, and your health. One of our experienced plastic surgeons specialising in corrective breast revision London will assess your situation and discuss realistic expectations.
What are the common reasons for corrective breast revision?
Common reasons include capsular contracture, implant rupture/leakage, implant malposition, asymmetry, unsatisfactory aesthetic results, rippling, or desire to change implant size/type. Patients also seek it to fix previous breast surgery issues.
Will corrective breast surgery leave new scars?
New incisions or scar revisions may occur. Surgeons specialising in corrective breast revision aim to place incisions discreetly and use advanced techniques to minimise visibility, improving overall appearance, including scar quality, from previous breast surgery.
How often do breast implants need to be replaced?
Breast implants are not lifetime devices and may require revision or replacement. Factors like rupture, capsular contracture, or aesthetic changes can necessitate breast implant revision. Lifespan varies, but many require revision within 10-20 years. Regular follow-up with your plastic surgeon is important.
