Tip Rhinoplasty in London

What is a tip rhinoplasty?

Tip rhinoplasty is a procedure designed to refine the shape, size, or projection of the nasal tip while preserving the overall balance and proportion of the nose. It focuses on the lower third of the nose, reshaping the cartilage to create a more natural and symmetrical appearance.

At Real Plastic Surgery, Mr Naveen Cavale, Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, takes a meticulous and individualised approach to every tip rhinoplasty. His goal is to achieve a result that enhances your natural features rather than changes them, creating a refined nasal tip that suits your face and allows you to breathe comfortably. However, it’s important to consider that, in some cases, operating on the tip alone can throw the nose’s overall balance out of proportion, so a more comprehensive approach may be recommended to achieve truly impactful, long-lasting results.

Tip rhinoplasty from £10,000

Common reasons patients consider tip rhinoplasty include:

  • A bulbous, boxy, or wide nasal tip
  • A tip that droops, especially when smiling
  • Asymmetry or uneven definition between the nostrils
  • A tip that appears too projected or under-projected
  • Minor irregularities following previous rhinoplasty

At Real Plastic Surgery, all tip rhinoplasty patients are under the care of our founder, Mr Naveen Cavale, who is internationally recognised for his expertise in facial reconstruction and nasal surgery. His reconstructive background ensures every procedure is planned and performed with precision, safety, and an understanding of both aesthetics and function. Before and After

Why Consider Tip Rhinoplasty?

The nasal tip is often the most defining feature of the nose; small changes here can transform overall facial balance and aesthetic. Tip rhinoplasty can:

  • Improve the definition and refinement of the nasal tip
  • Reduce a droopy or bulbous appearance
  • Enhance symmetry and proportion
  • Support the nasal valves to improve airflow in selected cases
  • Deliver a more balanced, natural profile without altering your identity

Mr Cavale’s approach to tip rhinoplasty is understated yet meticulous, designed to enhance rather than change. Every detail is considered to create a result that looks effortless, feels entirely your own, and maintains its balance and definition for years to come.

Types of Tip Rhinoplasty

Closed tip rhinoplasty: Incisions are made inside the nostrils, with no visible scars. Ideal for patients requiring minor refinements or subtle cartilage shaping.

Open tip rhinoplasty: A small incision is made beneath the nose to provide greater visibility and precision. This approach is useful for more complex reshaping, asymmetry correction, or cartilage grafting.

Cartilage-sparing tip refinement: Involves repositioning or suturing the existing cartilage rather than removing it, maintaining natural strength and long-term stability.

Structural tip rhinoplasty: Uses small grafts (from the septum or ear) to provide definition, projection, or support where required.

Each technique is tailored to your anatomy and goals. During your consultation, Mr Cavale will discuss which approach is safest and most suitable for your needs.

Treatment Time

Septorhinoplasty in London usually takes two to three hours under general anaesthetic.

Downtime

Expect about one week off work, longer if swelling or bruising is more visible.

Reasonable Mobility

You’ll be up and moving the same day, though expect swelling and congestion for the first week.

Sport & Exercise

Gentle walking is fine after a few days, but strenuous exercise and contact sports should wait six weeks.

Driving

Most patients can drive again after one to two weeks, once splints are removed, vision is clear, and you feel comfortable.

Shower

You can usually shower after two days, avoiding hot water and pressure on the nose.

Full Recovery

Healing takes around six weeks, with final results continuing to refine for up to a year.

Maintenance

Results are permanent, though natural ageing may subtly change nasal shape over time.

Reason for doing this?

Septorhinoplasty in London corrects a deviated septum and reshapes the nose to improve breathing and appearance.

Reasons to Avoid

Septorhinoplasty in London may not be suitable if you have uncontrolled health conditions, poor healing, or unrealistic expectations.

The Patient Journey: Tip Rhinoplasty

Your journey begins with a detailed consultation with Mr Naveen Cavale at the REAL Clinic in Battersea. The appointment lasts around 30 minutes and includes a full assessment of your nasal anatomy and a discussion of your desired changes. Virtual consultations are available for convenience, though an in-person meeting is required before finalising your surgical plan.

Tip rhinoplasty is often a smaller and more focused procedure than full rhinoplasty, but Mr Cavale encourages all patients to take their time, ask questions, and ensure they feel fully confident in their decision.

After surgery, you’ll need someone to stay with you overnight. Postoperative care includes direct access to our nursing team via WhatsApp or phone, and an in-person review about a week later to remove tapes, splints, and stitches. Most patients return for a six-week check-up, with further reviews arranged as needed. While early refinement is visible within weeks, final results continue to mature over six to twelve months.

If you have any concerns during recovery, Mr Cavale and the team are always available for reassurance and advice.

What to Expect on the Day

Tip rhinoplasty is performed under TIVA general anaesthesia (a light, fast-recovery anaesthetic). The procedure usually takes between one and two hours, and most patients return home the same day.

When you wake up, your nose will be supported with fine tape or a small external dressing. You may have soft internal packing, which is removed before you leave. There will be fine stitches beneath the nose and inside the nostrils, most dissolve naturally or are removed at your one-week review.

You can usually shower the following day, but the face should be kept dry until the dressings are removed. Swelling and minor bruising are normal and improve steadily over the first few weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between tip rhinoplasty and full rhinoplasty?

Full rhinoplasty reshapes the entire nose, including the bridge and septum, whereas tip rhinoplasty focuses solely on the lower third. It refines the cartilage that defines the tip without changing the bony structure, resulting in a shorter recovery and less swelling. It’s ideal for patients happy with their nasal bridge but seeking improvement in tip definition or projection.

In some cases, yes. If airflow problems are caused by weakened tip support or internal valve narrowing, tip rhinoplasty can improve breathing by reinforcing the cartilage framework. During your consultation, Mr Cavale will assess whether your symptoms relate to the nasal tip or if internal septal surgery might also be required.

Most swelling and bruising settle within two to three weeks, but the nasal tip continues to refine for several months. The final shape is typically seen at six to twelve months. You can return to work after about a week and resume light exercise after two weeks, but avoid strenuous activity until cleared at review.

If a closed technique is used, all incisions are inside the nostrils with no external scars. If an open approach is required, the small incision beneath the nose heals extremely well and becomes almost invisible over time.

Tip rhinoplasty results are long-lasting. The cartilage adjustments and sutures provide durable support, though natural ageing can subtly change nasal shape over the years. Avoiding trauma and following aftercare instructions helps maintain results for the long term.

Yes, it can be safely combined with chin augmentation, lip enhancement, or non-surgical facial treatments to achieve better overall balance. Mr Cavale will advise if a combined approach would deliver a more impactful result that’s aligned to your goals.
